There is a lot to be grateful for, so why not kick off your Thanksgiving festivities with a cocktail. I remember the first time all my cousins came back for Thanksgiving during college and we were finally allowed to be part of cocktail hour. It definitely made Thanksgiving more of a celebration! I love spending holidays with my cousins and luckily they all married people that are equally as fun. Now there are 8 kids under 4 years old in the next generation so we definitely need a cocktail on Thanksgiving! I won’t be with my cousins this Thanksgiving, but I am definitely going to raise a toast in their honor!
We picked two of our favorite rum cocktails to serve at Thanksgiving this year. Both of these cocktails are light and refreshing and are a great prelude to a heavy Thanksgiving dinner. Most importantly, they are easy to make and only require a few ingredients.
The Hemingway Daiquiri
- 2 oz White Rum
- .75 oz Lime Juice
- 1 tsp Maraschino
- 1 tsp Grapefruit Juice
- 1 tsp Sugar or .5 oz Simple Syrup
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
The Dark & Stormy
- 3 ounces of dark Rum
- Ginger beer
Pour the rum into a highball glass and fill the glass with ice. Top off with the ginger beer and a wedge of lime if you have one handy.
