I have a vivid childhood memory of my mom making ice cream cones cupcakes. As a child I thought they were pretty amazing and I still do! Kids love things that break the rules, especially when it comes to dessert. Ice cream cones cupcake do just that and they could not be simpler to make…not to mention your kids will love them!
- Wafer cones (or “cake” cones)
- Cake mix
- Sprinkles or any other type of cake decorations
We love making any recipe that gets our kids in the kitchen and Ice cream cone cupcakes are a great thing to make as a family. Make your favorite cake mix according to the instructions. Put your ice cream cones in a muffin tray and fill each cone half way up with cake mix. This is the most important part, because if you fill them too high with batter they will overflow and make a mess. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until the cake is golden and cooked through. You can test to make sure the cake is fully cooked by inserting a toothpick or bamboo skewer in the center of the cake, when the toothpick comes out clean the cake is done. Take the ice cream cone cupcakes out of the oven and let them cool. Once they are cool, ice them and top with sprinkles or any other decoration you’ like!
