We are so excited that Halloween is finally here! We have had such a crazy and fun October. We are very grateful to all the families who asked us to help decorate their homes for Halloween and we are looking forward to decorating many more homes for the upcoming holidays. Our holiday decorating business is keeping us extra busy, so beginning this week we will start posting 3 times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Thank you to everyone for all of their support and kind words. We are excited about the next few months!

1. We love all the gorgeous Halloween sweet treats, but it is nice to offer our kids something on the healthier side during this candy crazed time. Red Tricycle has put together some of their favorite healthy Halloween snacks that we can’t wait to try!

2. A preppy blazer dresses up a pair of jeans perfectly. We especially love how A Piece of Toast dressed up a blazer with a pair of sexy stilettos and great statement tee like this Donald Robertson for J.Crew number. Sadly, this tee is sold out, but J.Crew has a similar one available that would look just as fabulous!

3. Even though Halloween is a mere 5 days away it’s not too late to plan a last minute celebration! We can always count on Tell Love and Party for amazing party ideas and their bright and colorful Halloween party did not disappoint.

4.  We have always loved the look of the double dutch braid bun because it is pretty, natural and can be worn day or night. We thought it might be too complicated, but Lauren Conrad’s step by step instructions make it simple to recreate.

5. These spooky zombie eyeball cookies from Hello, Wonderful are a fun and easy dessert that are guaranteed to be a hit with kids. We especially love the pastel colors!

6. Treat bags don’t have to be just for the kids! Damask Love’s DIY monster tote bag, which is inspired by the Fendi version is the perfect purse to tote around this Halloween…and at a mere fraction of the price, which is always music to our ears.

Happy Monday!

This week we are loving more creepy crawly craft and decor ideas,  some amazing graveyard cakes, the perfect Fall cocktail and some Fall style and beauty inspiration.

1. These DIY yarn spider webs are so cute! A little yarn, a few sticks, some plastic spiders and you have the perfect craft or addition to your Halloween decorations.

2. No outfit is as classic and instantly chic as a pair of black kitten heels, a pullover, an elegant handbag and classic jeans. We love Le Fashions updated take on this look with cropped vintage Levis. These jeans would also look amazing with a pair of booties or boots! We know what we’ll be scouting for this fall…the perfect pair of vintage denim.

3. These deathly chocolate graveyard cakes  look so amazing! While this looks like a very elaborate dessert, Half Baked Harvest gives you all the tips and tricks and it looks completely doable!

4. Martha Stewart’s Deranged Halloween Centerpiece is from a few years back, but we love it so much! It is a perfect addition to all our creepy crawly decor and it is really easy to make.

5. Sangria isn’t just for the Summertime! Jillian Harris’ Fall Sangria looks so delicious and refreshing, yet reminiscent of all the Autumn flavors we love.

6. The barely there makeup look is one we are always trying to perfect, and J.Crew’s take on this look is flawless! We can’t wait to try this out for ourselves.

3. Sugar and Charm’s Halloween Bar is so glamorous, we can’t wait to throw our own grown up Halloween Party, complete with eerie cocktails and decadent appetizers!

We love this time of year! School is in full swing, it’s football season and Halloween is around the corner. This week our favorite things include pastel pumpkins, super cute party supplies, creative DIYs and slow cooker desserts!
things-jane-likes-9-28-151. Herve Tullet’s book Mix It Up has been one of our kids’ favorite books lately, so we thought it would be fun to find a color-focused craft for them. This DIY Felt Color Wheel from hello, Wonderful is fun and interactive craft for teaching kids about color. It is definitely on our make list!

2. Mixing prints can be tricky, but we love how effortless Lovely Peppa makes it look with this crisp striped shirt and bright plaid full skirt. This outfit has jane can… written all over it!

3. Studio DIY’s pastel pumpkins are such an unexpected color scheme for Fall. Kelly used pastel colors to create a Fall baby shower complete with pastel pumpkins, caramel apples and watercolor balloons. There are so many cute party ideas in this post!

4. Why buy gift tags when making them is so simple and fun?! This pencil gift tag idea is genius and would be perfect for any teacher’s gift or birthday gift for a young one.

5. It is no secret that we love party supplies and the new Wonder Filled Party  line from Poppies for Grace is adorable! There are so many fabulous things we may have to throw a party just so we can buy some new party supplies!

6. We love our slow cookers, especially once the weather cools down a bit. It’s the perfect way to prepare a meal with almost no effort. We have made all kinds of things in our slow cooker, but we have never made dessert! We cannot wait to give some of these slow cooker desserts a try.

Happy Monday!

1. We love a moscow mule, but this Fall-inspired apple cider moscow mule recipe sounds amazing.  This “fall in a cup” cocktail created by Sugar & Charm is the perfect way to celebrate the season during happy hour.

2. Since the first day of Fall is this week, it is time to transition out of our Summer staples! Cup of Jo’s post on 12 Fall dresses has some really cute dresses in a variety of styles that are perfect for this time of year.

3. Oh, what to do with all the late season fruits to make them last longer? Red Tricycle has some delicious ways to make our favorite berries and apples last long past their season.

4. These colorful butteryfly cut-outs would make the perfect garland for a little girl’s room, or any room for that matter!

5. We love to set a pretty table and this Fall inspired tabletop from Design Love Fest is simple, fresh and elegant. We especially love the colors and the natural elements incorporated into the tablescape.

6. Our kids aren’t the only ones who need a new bag at the start of the school year! We love Happily Grey’s grown up backpack. It’s simple, stylish and allows us to keep our hands free.

Happy Monday and Happy Birthday to Ashley! This week we found some really fun items that we are excited to share with you. There is a little something for everyone: a delicious recipe, a fabulous office, fashion tips, and more!

things-jane-likes-9-14-15b

1. How was school today? Fine. Good. Fun. We have all asked our kids’ “How was school today?” and gotten an answer that tells us absolutely nothing. We loved this article from Simple Simon and Company on 25 Ways to ask your kids “so how was school today?” without asking “so how was school today”. There are some really fun and creative questions that will definitely get your kids talking!

2. We’re always looking for the latest “street style” trends, but sometimes they can be hard to pull off. That’s why we love Say Yes’s 20 ways to wear this Fall’s hottest trends. They compiled examples of some amazing Fall trends that are very comfortable and looks we can actually pull off!

3. We love everything Mindy Kaling does and this was a great week for Mindy Kaling fans. The new season of The Mindy Project premiered on Hulu, her new memoir Why Not Me? came out and we got to see her fabulously colorful office space in the new issue of Domino magazine. And on a side note, the Serena & Lily wallpaper in her office looks so amazing!

4. These DIY tissue paper lanterns by Tell Love and Party would add just the right amount of color to any party! You could change the color scheme to fit right into any party you’re having. We’re already thinking of so many fun was we can use them, whether it’s for a kid’s birthday party or even a Halloween party!

5. A Cup of Jo featured this delicious fettuccine with lemon recipe from Elizabeth Stein’s new book, Eating Purely and we can’t wait to try it. Pasta is the perfect quick and easy weeknight dinner and this one looks like one the whole family will enjoy!

6. We have slight a obsession with Honest products and have been patiently waiting for Jessica Alba’s new Honest Beauty line to launch…and it finally did just last week! We’ve already ordered several products and can’t wait to give them a try.

Have a great week!

After a lovely, long weekend it is hard to get back to reality, but we found some great things this week to get you excited about Fall. Hopefully, a big dose of stripes, school supplies, homemade treats, Fall fashion and home decor will help you jump into the week!

things-jane-likes-9-8-15

1. How cute are the Kitchy Kitchen’s mini cherry pies!? They would make the perfect baking activity for kids, or even a delicious dessert for a Fall BBQ.

2. We love our striped shirts, so Le Fashion’s 25 ways to wear a striped shirt immediately caught our eye. Le Fashion shows that you really can wear a traditional striped button down for any occasion, from casual to dressed up and anywhere in between.

3. We loved Lonny’s magazine recent article on The Sexy Cabin, especially the look of a cabin where “the outside is stained ebony, and the interiors are layered with rustic-meets-urbane eclecticism.”

4. We admit it, we have a pom pom addiction. We are sucker for any craft that involves pom poms and this market tote from Damask Love is especially cute!

5.This adorable back to school party featured on hello, wonderful has tons of inspiration for a party, a teacher gift or an extra special after school snack. We love the blue and yellow palette and the handmade decor like crayon holders, ABC cookies, scrabble tile cards, and tons of school-themed snacks.

6. Do you remember eating fruit roll ups as a kid…peeling it off the plastic sheet and wrapping it around your finger? Half Baked Harvest’s homemade version looks just as tasty and are much better for the kiddos than the store bought roll ups. What’s even better, the flavor options are limitless!

Have a great week!
